Just returned from 8 blissful days at HI. Every time I leave, it's feels like I'm leaving a friend. Can't wait to come back. HI holds a special place in my heart and always will. Someday I hope to retire near this island.

In the meantime, I have an idea for the state park officials...why not put a 360 web cam like some other beach parks (Edisto) has....so when we miss HI.......we can just click on and see the beach, park, etc. I would love to see the park and take a look to see it each week......what a great thought, ugh?

Maybe Friends of HI could possibly help in making this happen? I would make a donation for that!

Until then, HI see you in the spring!

I first visited Hunting Island 48 years ago! Wow can't believe I've know a place for so many years. How many times have I been up to the top of the Lighthouse? How many times I've introduced this beautiful island to others? The solitude of the beaches by the cabins for anyone wbleepedneeds to walk and think.

I have left the skin of my knees on the Fripp Island bridge. I've seen the beaches completely eroded away and then rebuilt again. It is a beautiful treasure of South Carolina come build your Memories here! You won't regret it.

BEEN GOING TO HUNTING ISLAND FOR YEARS AND TRULY APPRECIATE IT'S BEAUTY AND LACK OF PEOPLE AT THE CABIN END. DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE BEACH EROSION WE WILL NOT GO THIS YEAR BECAUSE MY WIFE WANTS A SEMBLANCE OF A BEACH AT HIGH AND LOW TIDE WHICH IS NO LONGER THERE AT HIGH TIDE. PERSONALLY I COULD CARE LESS AS I ENJOY THE AMBIENCE REGARDLESS. BEACH REPLENISHMENT IS BEING KNOCKED AROUND BUT IT IS DOUBTFUL IT WILL COME TO FRUITION. THE ISLAND IS NOTED AS BEING THE WORST OF THE ISLANDS IN SC FOR EROSION.

TOO BAD. HOPE TO GET BACK SOME DAY IF ALL THE COTTAGES, STATE OR PRIVATE, ARE NOT UNDERMINED BY THE TIDES AND THEN REQUIRE RAZING FOR SAFETY PURPOSES.
GOOD LUCK OLD FRIEND AS I DO MISS YOU!!!!!!!
