I was introduced to HI by a family member. Such a magnificent place to go. If you want to go and relax and enjoy some time in the sun, go to HI! Love the fact that there was not a crowd of people on the beach, the five days that my family and I were there. We stayed in one of the cabins. It was wonderful to sit on the screened in porch at night and just have the breeze blowing in, the sound of the water and the beautiful moon reflecting off the water. Getting up in the mornings to have the deer standing outside the cabin or see that the raccoons had made a visit during the night, that is what nature is all about. If I was not so into living in Kentucky I would so move to this extraordinary island! I am hoping that we get to go back again this year!

Just visited Hunting Island December 28-30th. I camped in a tent and it was excellent. I camped in site 73 and had easy access to the beach and bathhouse. I built a fire and took some hikes. The campground is like others in the state with fire ring, water and elec. The racoons were busy at night but not a real problem. The beach was very nice and not crowded at all. It was 30 degree's which thins out some. I climbed the lighthouse which was great. Check the out building for some history of the families of the lighthouse keepers.

I went to a restaurant about 2 miles on the right after leaving the park which had great raw oysters and the fish was good as well.

The trails were peaciful with Palms, old very large pines, and ferns. Very peaciful forest.

Our family spent a week there in Sept .We stayed in the cabins. We had a great time. It is surely the most beautiful area that we have vacationed. I would recomend this place to everyone.

The most relaxing vacation area you could ask for. The scenery is beautiful and if your not into the city crowds you will love it. Already booked next year so we can share this jewel with our daughters and grandchildren. Hope they enjoy it as much as we have.
